Jean Paul Gaultier Autumn Winter 2012 2013
Only one word can describe Jean Paul Gaultier’s next season collection: patterns. And I’m not talking some lousy boring ones. Look at this whole palette of patterns – from brick over to crazy cartoons, classic romanticism, sometimes military and even shaped materials bring the collection of otherwise rather dark and disillusioned garments to live. The color accents – orange, lemon, mint-turquoise – freshen up the otherwise sad combination of greys, blacks and darker shades of red and chocolate. Jean Paul Gaultier creates a playful mix of materials combining silk and fur, cotton, wool and leather. Form-wise the jumpsuit and the long skirt were the real surprise for me. However, there was one thing I totally despise in his vision for fashion in 2013 – models dreadlocks? Please, that’s an alternative street hairstyle (as if) that belongs to people with lower hygiene standards.
