BL33N
I spent long time wondering what BL33N actually is supposed to be. Thanks to Diane Pernet, I found out that BL33N is the new collaboration child of Matthias and Donovan Vriens-McGrath. Matthias Vriens was one of the founders of DUTCH Magazine, a publication that influenced media and fashion during the 90s and 00s and used provocation as a weapon for riding their reader’s attention.
Long before its launch in May 2011, the site BL33N.com attracts thousands of visitors with the aggressive spot of naked people sporting the BL33N logo. Obviously, after the launch we will see some of them dressed with the designs by BL33N – limited edition unisex shirts, with a wink to the contemporary art world. The first collection revolves around the body (duh!). Hair printed on the shoulders and back will look like one just got overnight long hair, but printed in silver foil and red or black latex. The collection includes shirts with naughty logo placement and poetry inspired by the body longing. When you pull the T-Shirts over your head, a face mask reveals on the other side that comes exactly over your head.
