When I first saw Nicola Formichetti’s first menswear collection for Thierry Mugler my only thought was – who the F is the skeleton guy? It turned out this has been Formichetti’s muse for the F/W 2011/2012 collection for Mugler. There is not much information on Mr. Genest except that the twenty-something model from Montreal is known more for his skeletal body art than his portfolio. He also goes by the name Zombie Boy.
The world was introduced to Genest via Cathy Horyn’s latest musings on the industry, “Pushing Fashion Boundaries in an Era Without Any”. In a section highlighting the popularity of transsexual model Lea T., androgynous model Andrej Pejic, and albino model Steven Thompson, Horyn reveals Formichetti’s newfound inspiration.
