Michael Kampe
I am trying hard to understand fashion. Sometimes, I succeed. And when I find out I like the same fashion projects Viktor & Rolf and Diesel’s Ronzo Rosso like – it makes me feel one step closer to those so called fashion bloggers from Berlin.
The designers above have been impressed by Michael Kampe’s 3D work with fabrics and denim treatments used in his ‘Exploded View’ collection. His aesthetics are strongly influenced by urban wear, contemporary art and culture amongst interesting shapes, print designs and new fabric treatments and prints. Michael is 23, from Berlin, studied 3 years in the Antwerp Royal Academy and is moving next month to Italy as part of the Diesel Award. The materials he uses are a clever mix of digital printed cotton on foam, handbag leather, jersey with nylon and poplins with linen. Michael created his unusual prints by cutting photos from his inspiration: “It was important for me that they are vivid and create an all-over look that covers the complete silhouette”
